Introduction

My Vision

• Tree of Life Inspirations is owned and managed by Fiona Monro and provides personal therapeutic support to individual clients, as well as a range of developmental workshops.
• I believe in a rounded, holistic approach to life, and the need to achieve a balance between our mental, emotional, spiritual and physical needs.
• I believe that with the right support, all individuals are capable of reaching their potential and making the very most of their lives.

My background

The last 20 years of my life have been spent working professionally in the field of Personal Development. Initially a guidance teacher, I was lucky enough to quickly move into a staff development role. Over the years working for various government initiatives I have been able to follow my heart as I have had wonderful opportunities to write resources and provide training in personal development for schools, colleges, training agencies and community groups.

Following this experience, I set up my own company specialising in personal development and motivational training.

I place a high value on a well-rounded life.

In addition to my B.Ed degree, I have undertaken Counselling training in Person Centred Counselling and Group Therapeutic Processes and have a Diploma awarded by ONC which is a consortium of Colleges in NW England. I have also undertaken professional training in the business and personal applications of Emotional Intelligence.

I have Diplomas in Life Coaching, Colour Therapy, and Reiki and have attended a practitioner's course in Feng Shui. I am interested in many aspects of complementary therapy and mind, body and spirit development.

I am a certified and licensed "You Can Heal Your Life" teacher and offer the same workshops as those originally created by Louise Hay. I have also trained with Patricia Crane and offer a variety of her courses, including "Ordering from the Cosmic Kitchen" as per her book.

I am a member of my local spiritualist church and sat on a weekly development circle there for a year. I also provide hands-on healing through Reiki to church attendees after the weekly service.

I have a deep love of animals, having owned a variety over the years and competed with border collies in shows up to Crufts level. I have a 1st Honours Instructor in Dog Training awarded by the British Institute of Professional Dog Trainers and enjoy giving Reiki to all small pets.

My hobby is sailing. I also have a Yachtmaster Qualification and ran a small yacht charter company for a few years. In 2001 - 2002 I took a year out, as follows:

Finding Your Own Horizons (extract from Helensburgh Advertiser 16/01/03)

"Ever fancied taking a year out to sail halfway around the world, visiting the sun-kissed beaches of Spain, Portugal, Madeira, the Canary Islands, the Caribbean, Venezuela, the ABC islands and the States.

Fiona (Monro) did, and in 2001 she turned her dream into reality, and sailed across the Atlantic and back on board a 33ft yacht. She sold her house, moved into a smaller one, packed up her stuff, re-arranged her finances, then set off with her partner for the adventure of a lifetime.

Personal development coach and trained counsellor Fiona had worked for years helping others to take stock of their lives, maximise their strengths, overcome barriers and develop new goal setting strategies. Now it was time to do it for herself.

Fiona says: "This was something I had always wanted to do – but never felt I would have the time, confidence or ability to make it happen. But the timing seemed right for me, I had a new partner with loads of sailing experience and a sense of adventure, so I decided to just take the leap and trust in the process of life."

Fiona says the experience taught her a lot. "I learnt so much about how other people live, and most of all I learned about myself. I learnt the value of "being" as well as 'doing' and inevitably a tremendous amount about developing relationship skills. I discovered capacities for self-reliance, teamwork and stamina in a way I never knew before. It was a life-changing and uplifting experience and gave me much time to think about what to do next."
